The idea
of what
it means
to be human
is shrunk
in the
xenophobic
rhetoric
of Mr.
Trump
Let’s agree to disagree on this one.
There is a HUGE difference between being xenophobic and anti-terrorist.
Because his trade policies are pro-America does not mean he is xenophobic. Inappropriate name calling is one reason the democrats lost. (One of so very very many….)
What Mr. Trump DID say…. is we should be light for others to follow.
So let’s stop with the name calling…….
Let’s start being light again.
Let’s stop with the anti-conservative hate speech…and really listen.
Thanks.
Anti-conservative, alright, but hate speech? That’s an accusation that seems over the top. And of course I never really called Mr. Trump anything, I only said his rhetoric is xenophobic, which I certainly stand behind. If however, I did decide to call him names, I would only be following his own well perfected example…examples of which are legion. Love this Stephen, as one who has to live with his presidency for as long as it lasts. Don’t ever stop expressing your thoughts and gift because someone else is having a difficult time appreciating them!!
Thank you Ann. I’m just happy poetry still has the power to touch nerves and hearts.
🙂 Always!
Thank you, Stephen. Warm thoughts to you.
Thank you Catherine. And to you.
Quote by Emma Lazarus, inscribed on the Statue of Liberty:
“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me:
I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”
Headline yesterday: Trump bans refugees….
Thanks Sam. This makes me profoundly sad. It appears that the glorious experiment that was America is officially dead.
But there are still many voices proclaiming it’s life. May they prevail in the end.
