Les Wisniewski is a homeless man, staying at Calgary’s Mustard Seed. During the day, partnered with a friend, he’s been helping out homeowners in areas of Calgary whose houses have been ravaged by the flood.
Not that every homeless person is able or capable of doing what Les is doing, but his story is, nevertheless, a simple reminder for those of us who tend to unconsciously blanket-categorize homeless people as receivers and ourselves as beneficent suppliers. And because of this, it’s a story worth circulating. For anything that helps us erase distinctions of position and power brings us closer together.
Powerful – and a great counterpoint to my recent adventures it seems.
Thanks Sam. And from what I know of your adventures, obviously yes.
