Easter is about a wrath-free God

May you have a blessed and bloom filled Easter!

Just realized it’s been exactly three years (and 500 plus posts) since Grow Mercy hit the blogosphere with an underwhelming whump. But a whump nevertheless. And I’m still, mostly, going on about the same things…well, things like Mercy.

Anyway, here’s an article published in today’s Religion (Edmonton Journal). Something new, something old…like the scribes:) Hope you find it interesting.

  1. A beautiful piece/peace. Thank you for continuing to share your light filled vision. Easter blessings to you and all of your family.

  2. A Joyous Easter to you Stephen:

    Thanks for this article.

I’ve had many of those ‘cursing at life’ moments. Some publicly at the side of a farm implement, more in the privacy of my mind over frustrations that overwhelmed me in life work, relationships.

cursing at God for allowing so much suffering. He apparently not willing or perhaps not able to do anything about it.

    I still have those moments.

I suppose i still need to experience Jesus’ death as God’s forgiveness extended towards us, even as I need to extend my forgiveness towards Him.

Easter remains a mysterious necessity to me. I hope to fully avail myself of its powers someday.

All the best to you and yours.

  3. “Easter…a mysterious necessity,” yes, I like that! And thank you for your honesty Len. Those “cursing moments” are as much indications of a working faith as are our “devout” moments.

  4. We were blessed to be raised by a father who understood grace and mercy! Great article. Do you remember Daniel Berigan!?

  5. Thanks Sam. I was hoping you’d read and respond. You are probably more familiar with Berrigan than I am. I’ve only read about him. But anyone who receives the Thomas Merton (Peace and Social Justice) award is kind a of hero in my eyes. Cheers, s

  6. Berigan’s name was in the news a great deal during my 5 years in the states – the height of the Vietnam War era. It was good to see his name again!
